Who Else Wants Computer Gaming?

Graphic card is what you need to play games on your notebook. Their big promise is powerful graphics performance, which isn’t just limited to games. I want to be able to maybe build a box that will let me plug a vcr video out into the monitor. Oh no. You’re going to want replacement face covers, or a cover to put over your existing one to protect it further. Webcams aren’t necessarily as important as the best gaming keyboard or best gaming mouse when crafting your ideal setup, but since livestreaming and video calls are more popular than ever right now, a good one can really be the cherry on top. As far as we’re concerned, the cordless version of Logitech’s G502 Lightspeed is the best wireless gaming mouse around. Moving a mouse to turn a camera? It packs impressive AI framing and a few gimmicky filters for your face – just remember to turn them off so you don’t need to remind everyone that you’re not a cat. It’s a sturdy piece of kit that doesn’t feel like it’ll fall to pieces in the rare instance it does slip off the back of your display, with a built-in shutter that slides over the lens and 360-degree rotation so you can turn the camera away or film something other than your face.

Playing in VR definitely makes going back to flat/pancake (or whatever you want to call it) gaming feel… If you want a more condensed view, however, you can adjust the zoom through the CamEngine program. Currently, there’s nothing quite like the Avermedia PW315 webcam on the market, offering 1080p resolution at 60fps cheaper than Razer and Logitech, but its value depends on what you want from it. Of course, it lacks the studio-quality sound of the best gaming microphone, but it’s still a big improvement over some of the woeful mics found on cheaper headsets. Despite this, it undercuts its 1080p competitors by quite a margin, being $50 cheaper than the Logitech StreamCam and $10 lower than the Anker PowerConf C300. It’s a bit low profile but has a nice, ambidextrous-shaped shell that doesn’t feel cheap, despite this being a budget mouse. It usually sells for a bit less than MSRP, but this is close to the cheapest it has ever been (it briefly sold for $94.99 in December 2020). Still not budget territory, but this is anything but an entry-level gaming mouse.

The Avermedia PW315 is plug-and-play out of the box, but you won’t get the most out of it without downloading the CamEngine software. I do hope many more people get to experience it. Manufacturers had not been able to keep up with demand due to countries going into lockdown and people not being able to go to work. With time the surface of the rubber ball loses its smoothness due to dust particles and exposure to the environment. Since they were designed for high resolution (at the time) computer applications, the quality is generally excellent. The Hyperconverter is very comparable, at the time of our purchase, it did not do much more than pure scan conversion from the PC to video. It seemed too good to be true, and yet inXile took the engine Obsidian made for Pillars of Eternity and managed to return to the world of Torment in an RPG that recaptures much of what made the original so special. Wireless is coming along so eventually they might be a much smaller issue. It clamps solidly on the top of your monitor, but the large lip might intrude into your screen space if you own one of the best gaming monitors with ultra-thin bezels.

It is $75 and will run any of a half dozen monitors from most standard video cards on the PC and Macintosh G3/G4. Hopefully something like Monado can be a standard for getting more headsets working on Linux. It can function as a standard Bluetooth mouse, ideal for laptops and tablets, or you can use the included 2.4GHz wireless adapter for a lower-latency connection with PCs (the same technology most wireless gaming mice use). You can also use the mouse with multiple PCs at once, even when dragging files across devices. If you have an iPad and a Mac made in the last few years (see here for a full list of compatible devices), then the built-in Sidecar feature turns the tablet into a second screen, either via a cable or wirelessly. In addition, you can visit the retailers’ store to see the laptop in action getting a feel for how it looks and works. The mouse can store up to three connections without re-pairing, and the internal battery is charged through a USB Type-C connector.
